Childcare Assistance Programs
Childcare Assistance Programs Available:
West Virginia University and the State of West Virginia offer several programs that can be used to offset the cost of child care.
Programs for Everyone
The Child Care Resource Center’s (CCRC) subsidized child care program covers most of the cost of direct care for children while eligible parents work, attend training, or are otherwise unable to provide care. The parent fee for child care is based on gross monthly family income and family size.
To find out if you are eligible for support, call 304-292-7357 or visit their local office at 965 Hartman Run Road, Suite 1103. Verification of eligibility is required. For more information about verification materials, please visit CCRC's website.
Program for Students
The WVU Student Child Care Assistance Program (SCCAP) provides low-income WVU undergraduate students with reimbursement for a portion of their child care expenses. For more information, contact WVU Student Family Resources at (304) 293-5370 or studentfamilyresources@mail.wvu.edu.
Programs for Employees
The Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account offered by WVU allows you to put aside money – tax-free – to cover dependent care expenses. This benefit is only available during Open Enrollment. It allows you to reduce your taxable income and keep more of your salary. More information about this program is available at this website.
Programs for Eligible Military Families
Bright Horizons partners with the Department of Defense and their Military Child Care in Your Neighborhood (MCCYN) Program. Through this program, eligible military families can access tuition assistance at participating centers when on-base care is not available. Eligible military families may also receive a waived registration fee at MCCYN participating centers.
