Operated by Bright Horizons, our carefully created education programs are personalized to encourage curious, happy, and confident children at every age and stage.
Learn More About Bright HorizonsThe WVU Child Learning Center (CLC) opened on August 3, 2009, and is managed by Bright Horizons.
The CLC is licensed to provide care to over 200 children aged 6 weeks to 5 years. In addition to expansive classroom spaces, the center boasts a private space for nursing mothers, an indoor play space, and a fenced natural outdoor play yard with separate areas for preschoolers and those under three.
The CLC is intended to serve the childcare needs of University students and employees. If space permits, children of members of the community may be offered enrollment.
All meals are prepared on site. The CLC provides children with breakfast and lunch as well as an afternoon snack. Weekly menus are posted in advance, and a registered dietitian develops all menus. Meals and snacks are planned to meet nutritional requirements recommended by the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), which is run by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
The CLC meets all licensing requirements of the state of West Virginia. It is licensed by the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources, Bureau of Children and Families, Division of Early Care and Education.

To register your child(ren) for future enrollment opportunities at the WVU Child Learning Center, visit our Family Information Center to set up a secure family account. Once your account is created, you will be able to register your child(ren) for up to three centers and pay the registration fee of $50 per child.

This email will also include information on the enrollment process, space availability, and any applicable enrollment offers.
Our Center’s curriculum is designed to support standards set by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). The CLC provides developmentally appropriate opportunities for growth through an integrated approach involving interest centers and thematic units of study aligned with the West Virginia early learning standards. There are many opportunities for hands-on, active exploration and interaction with adults, other children, and materials. Staff provide activities that are age appropriate and meet each child’s individual developmental needs.
